Tough Job Interview Questions

Interviewing is said to be an art rather than a science, but sometime it seems like the person on the other side of the table is throwing you questions just to trip you up. If you find yourself sitting across from a unfriendly interviewer, they may be just testing you out. No matter how directed the job interview questions, an interviewer can never completely test out a job candidate. Wanting to hire the best person for the job, the interviewer pays attention to not just the job candidate's words but to every aspect of the interaction. It is somewhat like a formal discussion between a hirer and an applicant or candidate, typically in person, in which information is exchanged, with the intention of establishing the applicant’s suitability for a position. May be you are well qualified, skilled and trained and most deserving candidate for a vacancy in a company, it doesn’t mean that you are well prepared for your Interview. Here are some examples of tough job interview questions :

Why did you leave your last job - After thinking about why I left, I realize I should have done some things differently. That job was a learning experience and I think I'm wiser now. I'd like the chance to prove that to you.

Where do you see yourself in five years - I would really like to be a part of my next organization for the long haul. I would like to work for a young company, such as this one, so I can get in on the ground floor and take advantage of all the opportunities a growing firm has to offer.

What are your weaknesses - In my last position “I've been told that I occasionally focus on details and miss the bigger picture, so I've been spending time laying out the complete project every day to see my overall progress."

How would others describe you - "My fellow worker often says that I'm easy to do work with and that I always hit the ground running with some new things. I have more specific feedback with me, if you'd like to take a look at it."

Would you be willing to take a salary cut - The focus is more in the job itself rather than the money. That would be okay with me to negotiate with a low start but hoping that we can revisit it in a few months after I will prove myself.

Overall, how do you feel about your career progress to date - I am proud of what I have achieved so far. I've had the opportunity to learn and grow, and make valuable contributions to my organization on a daily basis. I’m always excited about taking on new challenges.

Tell me about the worst boss you ever had - While none of my past bosses were terrible, there are some who taught me more than others did. I've definitely learned what types of management styles I work with the best.

What problems have you encountered at work - I feel that the best way to deal with any challenges is to meet them head on. When I found that one of my colleagues was saying things that weren't true behind my back, I went to him and talked it through. It turned out that he had misunderstood what I had said, and I was able to set the record straight with him, and my supervisor.
